Funky Fairies #18

I made this card for the Funky Fairies challenge this week to make a baby card. I think it's a little lighter than in the piccie. I've used my favourite Funky Fairies distressed dots papers again. The Tilda image has been coloured with Pro Markers, the flowers made from punched papers and the swirl/stem is a Sissix die.

G is for - Guys Card

This week's challenge from Rainbow Lady is to somehow use the letter G. Well - G is for Guy's card and also for Glimmer Misted background. I made this for a friend's birthday so thought this might fit the bill. The tree stamp is from Elusive Images and the text is from a set of Serendipity stamps. The piece along the bottom of the card started out as a piece of cream card but has also been Glimmer misted.

Giddy-up

I've managed two challenges in one on this card. I've used the Magnolia pony for the Just Magnolia challenge this week which is to make a shaped card, and the rocking horse Daisy May image for the Cute Daisy May challenge this week which is Monotone. I've cut Daisy May off her rocking horse (sorry Linnie) and put her on the Magnolia pony. The backing papers are from Funky Fairies and the flower punched from some pearlised paper.

Passion for Pro Markers #1

This week sees the start of a new challenge - Passion for Pro Markers. For this week only you can use whichever Pro Markers you like - but in future challenges they set the colours. I have used one of my new Mikey downloads from Charmed Crafts to make this card for my Grandson - who is 15 next week. Being a teenage boy - I thought it best to keep it simple and thought this image would be OK. I've used the following colours:- Blush, Cool Grey 3, Cinnamon, Terracotta, Pastel Blue and Blue Pearl. The backing paper is from a Crafters Companions CD, Florals I think and the peel offs from my stash.

DWS meets Crafty Individuals

The challenge from Rainbow Lady this week is Black and White and a Silhouette. The base card is black. The image I have used is from Dancing With Shadows from Joanna Sheen. The stamps are from Crafty Individuals and the braid from my stash. (It's left over from my Line Dancing Days when we used to dress up and it was once fashionable to wear a choker.) The corner stamp is from a clear set that came from Crafting Direct. It had a square border round it but I thought it would be more useful without it so out came the scissors.

Tanda Teaser 99 - Oh Baby

The challenge from the team at Tanda this week was to make a baby card. I knew the paper I wanted to use (from Crafter's Companion) but not the image. I found this one on The Greetings Card Factory programme and used it mainly because it matched the paper I'd already printed out. The text is part of some freebies sent by Graphicus with an order some time ago. I didn't have any ribbon to match so I used pale green copy paper. Not a lot else I can say about this one.
After a reminder from Lorraine I'm also going to enter this card in the new C.R.A.F.T. challenge - the theme is NEW and can interpreted any way you like - so A New Baby card should fit the bill. I'm only just going to make before they post next week's challenge. I hope to be a bit sooner off the mark for that one.

Two cards - Two Challenges

I didn't get round to posting the card I made yesterday so I've posted it with today's card. The challenge at Funky Fairies this week was to use circles and buttons. For the circles there is the penny farthing stamp - a new one from Xelacrafts and the circles/swirls stamp in the background which is a U Mount stamp. It's the first time I've used Cosmic Shimmer powders to do a background and found there's a good result on the dark brown base card. The spotty paper is from Funky Fairies and the piece behind it is left over from my attempts to colour paper with coffee. I painted the paper with coffee and sprinkled with salt - as they do with Starburst stains. I don't know if I'll be able to part with the button. It's the only one like it in a selection of buttons bought from Silly Monkeys recently.
The second card is for Cute Daisy May's challenge this week - Spring colours and flowers. I had intended it to be brighter than this but as it went together I realised it was more green than yellow - but here it is anyway. I think there's a trend emerging at the moment with me for punched flowers and a Cuttlebugged swirl for the stem. Again, the backing papers are from Funky Fairy. Daisy May has been coloured with a mix of Inktense pencils and Pastel pencils.

Truly Scrumptious #7

I'm cutting a bit fine for the Truly Scrumptious challenge - Going Dotty but I've made it with a couple of days to spare. The green paper and the spotty paper are from Funky Fairies and the flower paper from a magazine cd full of their past freebie papers. (Crafts Beautiful I think.) The greeting is a Crafter's Comnpanions stamp - embossed with copper embossing powder and and the gems are some of those I bought at the NEC. The ribbon from Joanna Sheen.

Sketch and Stash #10

It's the 10th challenge over on the Sketch and Stash blog. This is my card following the sketch with backing papers from Crafters Companion Florals and a little green piece from Funky Fairies. The scalloped edge was done using the edge of a Nestabilities frame and gold mirri card. The new element is the stamp - which is the centre of a Creative Expressions Treasure box stamp that I hadn't got round to using yet. I suppose you could also count the flower - I just couldn't resist using my new punches which only arrived yesterday although there wasn't a flower on the original sketch.

Edit. I noticed that the green wasn't quite straight at the top so added a Cuttlebugged swirl. It made me feel better about it anyway.

Just Magnolia #5

There's a sketch to follow on Just Magnolia this week. I've used Funky Fairies papers again, this time peach and pale green, although the green hardly shows up in the photo. The piece of mink coloured pearlised card has been through the Cuttlebug and then sanded a bit to reveal the core. The flowers are a mixture, some layers from my stash and some layers punched out of the same papers and edged with pigment inks. The stick on pearls in the corners have been coloured with a red Dufex pen. The sentiment is a print out from a free artwork pack from My Craft Studio.

Creative Treasures Challenge #2

It's the second challenge at Creative Treasures this month and the theme is - 2 or more flowers, a swirl and a touch of sparkle/bling. I've chosen an image from the Card Creations Art Deco cd and used some backing paper from Funky Fairies (I haven't used any others since I got them so far). The swirl is a Sissiz die and the flowers are Prima with a little black Stickles in the centre. Just a few added black gems for the sparkle.

Funky Fairies Challenge #16

This is my first time entering the Funky Fairies challenge which this week is Flowers and Bling. I've been wanting to use this image of some Elusive Images poppies for a while and as they've got some black stickles in the centre I thought that would go towards the bling. The papers are by Funky Fairies - Distressed Dots, the ribbon is from my stash and the mats cut with my Cuttlebug from Nestability dies. It's finished off with some black stick on gems which I bought at the NEC in March.

Two Cards - Two Challenges

Two cards today because whilst I was waiting for OH to get off MY computer I finished a card that I had started yesterday. He'll have to wait longer for his tea now. The first is for this week's Cute Daisy May challenge which is a sketch. Daisy May has been coloured with watercolour and ordinary pencils. The backing paper is by Funky Fairies and the Cuttlebugged plate is purple mirror card. The flowers are digi stamps by Ann and have been coloured with Twinkling H2O's.
The leaves and the text plaque are Wizard dies.
The second card is something new for me. The challenge on Just Magnolia this week was to use some sort of stitching on your - either faux or real. I've seen a lot of machine stitching on cards and really like the effect so got my machine out and had a go. I've just gone round the edge - nothing too difficult although I found stitching through paper a lot easier than some fabrics. Now I never thought I'd use one of my Artylicious Guild pack papers on a 'cutie' card but that's what the bp is on this one. The flowers are prima, the swirl a Sissix die and the text Cuddly Buddly.

A Frame and a Thank You

I made this card as a Thank You for the people who run the dance sessions that I go to on a Tuesday night as tonight is the last one till the Autumn. It's also for Rainbow Lady's challenge this week to include a frame. The image is watercoloured and the stamps from Hobby Art. The image is more green than yellow but the light is so bright today it came out a lot lighter than it is. Not the problem I usually have I must say. The frame was cut using Nestability rectangles. The ribbon slider is a Cuttlebug die and the distressed spotty paper from Funky Fairies. The flower is also made from the same paper.

Fab New Challenge

There's a new challenge starting on 26th May featuring Pro Markers. I'm hoping to pick up lots of tips re: shading and colouring as well as joining in the challenges. Before the challenge starts there are some Pro Markers up for grabs. Why not take a look Here and check it out.

Tanda Teaser 'Cracking Up'.

The Tander Teaser this week was to use some sort of of crackle. As I don't have a crackle background stamp or any of the special paints or glazes needed to make a crackle effect I've used this peeling paint background from The Print Shop. The image, which has been coloured with Pro Markers was sent to me by Terrie, my niece, and I'm not sure who made the stamp. My cuttlebug suplied the fence effect and the sentiment was computer generated.

Dragons Dream Tag it On Challenge #2

I missed the first challenge set by Frankie on Dragons Dream Tag it On but I've made it this week. The subject is Fairies at the Bottom of the Garden. The tag was covered in 3 shades of Pearlescent Glue (from QVC) - swished about a bit and left to dry overnight. The stamps along the bottom are from Crafty Individuals and the Fairy (which has been stamped onto acetate and glittered on the back) is by Dovecraft.

Cute Daisy May Week 10

This sketch card is for the Cute Daisy May challenge #10. I've used papers from my new Funky Fairies download kit again for the background. Daisy May is coloured with Pro Markers and the flower is a mixture from my stash. The sentimant is Rubbadubbadoo and the piece of patterned mirri board across the centre was given to me by my friend Sue. Ovals courtesy of my Cuttlebug.

Just Magnolia #3

It's the third week of the Just Magnolia challenge already and this time the sketch was designed by Bev. If you don't know her blog already it's well worth a visit. I love her style and it's a great source of for inspiration. On this card Tilda has been coloured with Pro Markers and for the dress I've copied an idea from Linnie - to just dot the colours and make a pattern. (Linnie is the lady responsible for Cute Daisy May so her place is well worth a visit too.)
For the backing papers I've used one from Crafters Companion - the green - and also from Funky Fairies - the pink. I downloaded a couple of kits from Funky Fairies yesterday and the papers are just fabulous so you'll be seeing a lot more of them in the future. Flowers made from punched papers. Other bits and pieces from my stash.

Looks like Leo

This week the subject on Rainbow Lady's challenge is Four Legged Friends. I've taken another look at my Joanna Sheen Cat stamps and chose this one because it's a bit like Leo - who this morning found out how to use the cat flap - and is loving the great outdoors. He's been outside for hours every day lately and from today doesn't have to wait for someone to open the door. The cat image was stamped in Stone Grey Stazon and coloured with a grey pencil - the flowers and butterflies are from Crafty Individuals - stamped in Stone Grey Stazon and Whispers Archival - Whispers Sage. The campion highlighted with an Inktense pencil. I never usually stamp striaght on to a card but had a go today and didn't mess up - at least I don't think so.

Daisy May with Gems

The challenge for Cute Daisy May this weeks was to use gems on your creation. The image has been coloured with watercolour pencils, (but kept dry) and the papers where from a magazine quite a while ago. I've made the punched flowers from the same papers and added a gem to the centre of each. I've also added some gems to centre of the flowers on the side panels. The Cuttlebug border at the bottom was cut from a piece of Glimmer Misted paper which I just couldn't throw away and was exactly the right size for the die. It's looking a bit dull on the piccie the IRL it's a warm lavender theme.
